Scent detection is an activity that allows dogs to use their most developed sense, the sense of smell. In this class, your dog will continue to perfect his searches, find and indicate with more precision where a specific odor is hidden. You the handler, will learn to read your dog better with more ease . It is a new world to discover with your dog, a great way to form a great team and work together.  All the classes comply to the rules and regulations of Trials held by both the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club ) and the SDDA (Scent Dog Detection Association)

Additional help is given to students that are preparing for Trials in either the CKC or SDDA.

During the course of the year Scent Detection  directors organize Fun Matches that are very much like official Trials in order to prepare future competitors.

The Session of 7 weeks are limited to 6 participants.

To the public this course is offered at $220 + tax and to club members or additional class for $55 + tax. Both Basic 1 and Basic 2 must be successfully completed. Students must have completed Basic 2 unless special circumstances permit them to go from Basic 1 to Novice-Inter.

The following essential oils are used taking into consideration the level the participants : Wintergreen, Pine, White and or Red Thyme and Anis.

Please note that containers and objects of all kinds, will be introduced to the working teams in order to help them identify all sorts of hidden odors and different hiding places in the training hall.
